March 31, 2023 – Patrick Hannon and Hampton Watson achieved a significant employment verdict in U.S. District Court. The jury rendered a verdict on behalf of the firm’s client of $24.03 million in a disability discrimination and retaliation case. Read more here.

Barbara represented an actor/producer before the House Judiciary Committee on November 16, 2021, regarding the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act of 2021, which was signed into law by President Biden on March 3, 2022. The law gives employees the option to invalidate pre-dispute arbitration agreements in sexual harassment and assault cases, and instead file in court.

In 2021, Patrick and Barbara won a six-figure arbitration award, plus statutory interest and attorneys’ fees, in favor of an attorney seeking deferred compensation from his former firm in connection with his retirement.
In 2020, Patrick and Hampton won a seven-figure arbitration award in favor of our client, arising from his employer’s purportedly “discretionary” reduction of commission payments. The arbitrator found that the employer had improperly reduced the commissions in violation of the Massachusetts Wage Act, and awarded our client treble damages and attorneys’ fees.
In 2020, Patrick, Barbara and Hampton successfully represented an executive in a two-week arbitration concerning his alleged “for Cause” termination. The arbitrator found that our client had not been terminated “for Cause” and was entitled to recover cash and stock worth tens of millions of dollars that his former employer claimed had been forfeited.
In 2019, Patrick and Jim won a seven-figure arbitration award in favor of our client arising from his “Good Reason” resignation pursuant to a Change of Control agreement. The award included all amounts sought by the executive, plus statutory interest and attorneys’ fees.
